Admissions

Your first step should feel clear.

You do not need to arrive as a professional. KAMA admissions are designed to understand your goals, your starting point and the work you are ready to build.

The application journey

Five clear steps.

The application form is open for founding-cohort interest. KAMA will confirm formal dates and selection timelines as each programme is scheduled.

01

Choose your programme

Read the programme outline and select the learning outcome that best matches your current goal.

02

Submit your application

Tell us where you are starting, what you want to learn and the kind of story or work you hope to create.

03

KAMA reviews it

We consider your motivation, programme fit, readiness and the places available in the cohort.

04

Complete a follow-up

If needed, shortlisted applicants may be invited to a short conversation or asked for a simple creative task.

05

Receive an outcome

Selected applicants receive the confirmed schedule, format, funding or cost information, requirements and enrolment terms before accepting a place.

First culinary intake

Free for selected learners.

KAMA plans to offer the first 30-day Cooking & Catering and Baking & Cake Decoration programmes free to selected learners through sponsor support.

There is no application fee. Programme dates, venue, class capacity, trainer details and the final resources covered by sponsors will be announced once arrangements are confirmed. Submitting an application does not guarantee selection or a funded place.

Who can apply

Potential comes first.

KAMA is for emerging South African and African filmmakers, creatives, aspiring cooks, bakers, caterers and entrepreneurs who want practical skills. Programme-specific requirements are shown on each programme page.

  • Professional experience is not required for beginner programmes.
  • A portfolio or showreel is helpful but optional for the founding application.
  • Applicants may apply from across Africa; delivery arrangements are confirmed per cohort.
  • Applicants under 18 need prior parent or legal-guardian consent for their application and before enrolment.
  • Students must be available for scheduled practical sessions and complete the required practical work.

How we assess

More than a polished CV.

Access to equipment, professional credits or a finished portfolio should not be the only measure of creative promise.

01

Purpose

You can explain what you want to learn and why it matters to your goals.

02

Commitment

Your application shows that you are prepared to participate, practise and complete a real project.

03

Programme fit

Your current experience and goals suit the level and practical outcome of the selected programme.

04

Potential

We look for curiosity, initiative and willingness to grow—not only polished work or previous access.

05

Capacity

Selection also depends on available places, delivery arrangements and the needs of the cohort.

Selection does not guarantee a bursary, employment, funding, production or distribution. Any separate opportunity will have its own criteria and written terms.
