Be available for practical sessions
Students must be available for scheduled practical sessions and complete the required practical work. Check the confirmed venue, dates and times before accepting your place. Practical training may include filming, rehearsals, editing, studio work, cooking, baking, catering or other supervised activities relevant to the programme.
Theory attendance or online portal access does not replace compulsory practical work. Notify KAMA promptly if your availability changes. Request any accessibility or reasonable accommodation arrangements before the session so we can discuss safe, suitable participation.
Attend, arrive on time and communicate
- Attend required classes, practical sessions, assessments and agreed project activities.
- Arrive on time, prepared with any items specified for the session.
- Tell your facilitator and student support as soon as possible if you will be late or absent.
- Explain missed work and request an approved catch-up arrangement. A replacement session is not automatic and depends on resources and safe delivery.
- Keep your contact details current and check official timetable updates.
Missed compulsory practical work must be completed through an approved arrangement before a completion certificate is issued. Any programme-specific attendance requirement will be communicated before enrolment.
Respect people and protect learners
Treat learners, staff, performers, clients, communities and visitors with dignity. Bullying, harassment, sexual harassment, intimidation, discrimination, threats and violence are prohibited, including in online groups.
Respect personal boundaries. No participant should be pressured into unwanted physical contact, unsafe work or optional promotional recording. Parents or guardians must complete the required consent for minors before participation. Staff and learners must report safeguarding concerns to KAMA; urgent danger should be reported immediately to local emergency services.
Follow safety instructions
- Follow facilitator instructions, emergency procedures and required supervision.
- Use cameras, lighting, electrical equipment, tools, ovens and other equipment only when authorised and trained.
- Wear the protective clothing or footwear specified for the activity.
- In culinary sessions, follow handwashing, food handling, storage, cleaning and allergy-control instructions. Tell the facilitator privately about a safety need relevant to the activity; do not post medical details in a public group.
- Report hazards, injuries, damaged equipment and unsafe behaviour promptly.
- Do not attend a practical activity while impaired by alcohol, drugs or another substance that makes participation unsafe.
A facilitator may pause an activity or remove someone from an immediate unsafe situation. This is a protective step; any further disciplinary decision follows the process below.
Care for equipment and facilities
Use equipment and materials for authorised learning activities. Respect booking, sign-out and return arrangements; keep workspaces clean and return borrowed items in the agreed condition.
Do not remove equipment, share restricted access or use academy resources for private commercial work without written permission. Report accidental damage honestly. Any responsibility for loss or damage must be assessed fairly under the applicable agreement and law; it is not an automatic fine.
Complete your own work
Follow assignment instructions, deadlines and assessment criteria. Submit your own work, credit sources and contributors, and obtain permission for music, images, footage and other material you use.
Plagiarism, falsified attendance, dishonest submissions and altered results or certificates are prohibited. Follow the facilitator’s instructions about permitted AI assistance and disclose it when required. Ask for help or an extension before a deadline where possible.
Respect creative rights and recording consent
Learners keep ownership of their original work unless they agree otherwise in a separate written agreement. A learning place does not automatically transfer copyright or give KAMA permission to publicly distribute learner work.
Get permission before recording or sharing another person’s image, voice, personal information or work. Public promotion, showcases and any Kora Stream Africa distribution require appropriate written permissions and rights clearance. Declining optional promotional use must not remove a learning place.
Protect accounts and private information
Use your own student account and keep passwords private. Do not access someone else’s records, circulate private cohort notes or share attendance lists, contact details, results or complaints without authority.
Use official academy channels for student matters. Report suspected account misuse or an information leak to KAMA promptly. The Privacy Policy explains how learning records are handled.
Meet completion requirements
Completion depends on the requirements published for your programme, including compulsory practical work and assessments. Enrolment or attendance at a single session does not guarantee a certificate.
Ask student support about any incorrect attendance or assessment record. Certificates must not be altered or described as an accredited qualification unless that recognition is expressly confirmed for the programme.
Raise a concern or complaint
For attendance, practical work, timetable or assessment issues, email students@koraafricamediaacademy.com. For conduct, safeguarding concerns or escalation, email info@koraafricamediaacademy.com or use the contact form.
Include your student number or application reference, relevant dates, a clear description and the outcome you are seeking. Share sensitive evidence through a method agreed with KAMA. Concerns will be handled discreetly and shared only as needed to investigate, protect people or meet legal obligations. Good-faith reporting must not lead to retaliation.
Fair responses to rule breaches
Depending on the seriousness and circumstances, a response may include guidance, a warning, approved corrective work, temporary restrictions or removal from a programme. Immediate protective action may be needed where safety is at risk.
KAMA should explain the concern, consider relevant evidence, allow a reasonable opportunity to respond and communicate the decision and reasons. A learner may request review through info@koraafricamediaacademy.com; where possible, someone not directly involved in the original decision should review it. Programme terms and applicable legal rights continue to apply.
Follow the requirements for your programme
Facilitators may issue additional relevant instructions for venues, productions, kitchens, placements or online sessions. Important participation and completion requirements must be communicated before enrolment; later safety instructions should be explained before the affected activity.
These rules may be updated as programmes develop. Material changes will be communicated to affected students and will not retrospectively change completed work or remove legal rights. For questions, contact students@koraafricamediaacademy.com.
